As part of a group show, entitled Sunflowers for Ukraine.
The sunflower, or soniashnyk in Ukranian, has taken on a new layers of meaning, emerging as a global symbol of resitance, unity and hope. The show aims to gather a community of artists to stand in soldarity with the Ukraninan people, and to sell artwork for the benefit of the Ukranian Fund, assiting the most vulnerable communities and people of Ukraine.

Tree City, 2021

The city of Long Beach, CA was designated a “Tree City” in 2008 by the National Arbor Day Foundation. Long Beach provides a list of trees that are approved to be planted in parkways throughout the city. Of the 125 approved trees on the list, only fourteen of them are California natives. Eleven of the California natives on the list are drought tolerant. Only two of the remaining 111 non-California native trees on the list are drought tolerant. In 2016 a survey showed that Long Beach has over 92,000 street trees, not including the trees in Long Beach parks. The 10 most common trees in Long Beach are:

Mexican fan palm (5,141)

Of the top ten street trees in Long Beach, zero are California natives or drought tolerant. This is a “Tree City” made up of the 14 California native trees approved for planting in the city of Long Beach.

Collaboration with Therese Moriarty for the USPS Art Project
The USPS Art Project is an artist collaboration project. The goal is for unique collaborative artworks to be created, while helping the USPS by sending and receiving packages.
Hundreds of artists joined in the project, creating sculpture, paintings, drawings, mixed media, fiber art and more.
